Seeing Double

There's been a lot of lawsuits lately (and in the past, too, I just wasn't aware of them) between humongous fashion companies about stealing ideas from each other. There was something about a brand using red soles on their shoes and Christian Louboutin sued them. That's just one of many examples I could whip out right now. Somehow, Zara has gotten around the plagiarism laws and has sold slightly tweaked replicas of designer clothing for cheaper prices. Sure, they make a lot of their own original designs, but this entire post is dedicated to the pieces that I could find the inspiration for. A lot of them are scarily accurate. It makes me wonder how closely people are watching Zara, or if there's some secret mafia business going on in the fashion world. Just some food for thought.

The idea for this post sprouted when I was just walking around in a Zara store and saw a shirt that looked suspiciously like one I'd seen so many times from Louis Vuitton's spring 2012 collection. This got me thinking about if there are any other designer twins in their store. I stalked their website for a good few hours, scouring their entire inventory for look-alikes. It turns out I'd struck gold, guys! Pure freaking gold! Well, not really, because gold is too expensive for Zara. ...That's kind of the point.

You know that I rarely shop at stores that sell clothing at full price (I either shop during sale season or I go to thrift stores, or my mom's closet), so I could never imagine buying a brand name designer garment when I could buy something nearly as good for about one-billionth of the price. That's the magic of Macy's Zara. Even though most of this stuff is still way out of my price range, I'm sure plenty of you are willing to pay fifty dollars for a blazer or a pair of pants, or whatever. My limit is like, sixteen dollars; something in that approximate price range. Anything that's thirty dollars or above is considered a massive splurge item.

Here's all of your options if you feel like bein' a trendy little bug and would like to have enough money to eat in the next few months:

The resemblances are incredible. All of the Zara clothing can be purchased on their website or in-store if you're old-fashioned (kidding; shopping at stores will never be considered old-fashioned...I hope). Disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post for Zara or anything, I just really like their clothes. Ain't no shame in that.

This weekend is zipping by, isn't it? So classic of time to make the school week go by mega slow and then have my two days of freedom disappear in an instant. Shucks, man. Rough.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend.
