Trending For Pre-Fall: Wacky Khaki

I mean, there's nothing really that wacky about khaki, but that shiz rhymes. And you know how I feel about any sort of wordplay--it's like giving a squirrel a bag of mixed nuts and telling it to go crazy.  ...Ten points for obscurity? I'll take it.

Khaki is just a color, ya know? There's no reason why certain genders should claim colors. Why is it that only felines females should wear pink? The Spring/Summer 2013 menswear collections beg to differ, but I'll let Iris and Daniel cover that one. More food (and slightly more relevant) for thought: why do males get to claim khaki as their thing? The color isn't nearly as exclusive to men as pink is to women, but still. It's rare that I hear a girl saying that she's going to throw on her khakis and get going. The number of times I've heard my male cousins say something along those lines far outweighs the number represented by the former example. It's about goshdarn time we regained our rights to wear beige. Wear it loud and proud, laydeez! The shade has been renovated and ready for business! It's no longer reserved for camels, parchment, and boy scouts!

The best way to wear the color is all over your body. Up and down. Left to right. Fully clothe it in the color of sand and pretend you are the beach during winter to brighten your day. Let your garments exude old-lady-like charm(s)-->these will ward off any h8rz that will tell you that looking like an elderly woman is a bad thing. Don't let them trick you, this is false information. I do it every day.

The trenches of trend-dom:

Didn't the boy scouts learn to share?

We have a theme here: MONOCHROME DRESSING. This is an overarching trend encompassing this color scheme, all grey, all white, and several more to come in the legitimate Fall 2012 season. I understand pre-fall now: it's like the hors d'oeuvres. The little quiches and stuffed mushrooms that those waiters walk around with at fancy parties. The ones that always disappear to the greedy hands of overzealous adults before you can politely ask if you can have some, leading you to follow the server around the venue until you track him/her down, panting, and grab three pieces of finger food before walking away triumphantly.

I think this trend (among others, of course) is alluding to the dissolving gender divisions within the world of fashion. Please take a moment to either read Iris and Daniel's review on the mens' shows or check out the collections yourself, because I truly believe that this is the start of something new. And now looking in your eyes, I feel in my heart the start of something new. Classic tailoring is becoming more popularized by the Fall/Winter 2012 collections; more to come on this of course, when it's not summer.

Happy almost weekend for all of you who still have to work and all you silly teenagers that got yourself jobs and have to get up at 7:30 every morning to deal with jam-handed children. Ewwy.
