Miu Miu x2

The other night, Alina and I went to a pre-Fashion Week party for the tattoo artist Bang Bang (more to come on the event later), and funnily enough, her and I both wore outfits inspired by different Miu Miu seasons.

Louis V

The title of this post does not refer to Louis V of France. I'm talking about our good ol' pal Louis Vuitton.

Infinitely better than the French king (while Google searching whether he actually existed, I found out that people called him "Louis the Lazy," in French of course), Louis Vuitton is seriously awesome, and one of the most well known names in fashion. If you ask people who don't know much about fashion to name a few designers, my bet is the names they'll come up with are Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Gucci. Maybe Fendi. I was talking to someone the other day who didn't know who Coco Chanel was, and I had to just walk away. Don't get me started on that.

Anywhoozles, the reason I brought up the French designer is because he is the person (well not really, 'cause he's dead, but you know...) who designed the shirt I wore the other day. While in France over the summer, my aunt gave me a chocolate-colored cashmere optional-turtleneck LV that she got from her daughter, who works there. It was only a sample, so I don't think it was manufactured and sold in mass, which makes it that much better--I have a Louis Vuitton original! (Possibly.)

Here are some photos my mom and I took of my outfit:

Lopsided hair much? I'm really confused as to how that happened.

Top: Louis Vuitton (ohhhhhh is it)
High-waisted cords: Forever 21

Jus' chillin' in the corner. Hey guyz!

It's now a turtleneck. Ohmagawd.

Louis V!! It's so legit!

That's all for today, folks. Peace out!

Diversity

...Um, hi. My name is Odelia Kaly, and I have a blog called "You're A Tulle."

Why am I introducing myself, you ask? I figured you'd forgotten about me since it's been so long. You didn't? OH, THANK GOD, I WAS GETTING WORRIED! Don't worry, I have pictures! Of clothing I wore! In public! Taken by someone other than myself (and my windowsill)! Outdoors! Fragments!

So remember how I said that after midterms were over, I'd be back to my regular schedule? Well, I lied. Not intentionally, but things happen, am I right? (Yes.) I have finished reading all 493 pages of Jane Eyre tonight, and that's what was taking up most of my time, so now I should be back to a somewhat normal schedule. The key word here is "somewhat."

I'm a part of my school's photography club, which meets every other Tuesday, so I went to the meeting earlier this week. We walked to the Columbus Circle Holiday Market (the Union Square one is way better. So much prettier. And more crowded, but totally worth it. Just sayin'.) I cajoled my friend Octavia into taking my pictures for me, which she obligingly did. I also coerced my friend Mayo (that's pronounced my-oh, not may-oh) into holding all of my stuff. She's tiny, so I probably could've inadvertently killed her by crushing her with my backpack and denim jacket. Sorry 'bout that. Enough of me blabbing, let's get to the photos!

All photos taken by Octavia Bürgel.
(Note that it was raining quite hard, so my hair looks grosser than it usually does. It will also explain the last picture.)

Let's pretend I don't look slightly cross-eyed, ok?

Dress: from India (the country) via my grandma
Belt: my mom's
Denim jacket: Gap via Angel Street Thrift Shop
Necklace: from Africa (the continent) via my great-aunt Barbara
(Invisible) socks: my sock drawer?
(Invisible) shoes: Urban Outfitters

*Fun fact:* The name of this post is "Diversity" because my dress is from India and my necklace is African, and Mayo said I was very "ethnic" that day.

This is the one post where you'll see me smiling in photos a lot. It must be all that fresh air. It does weird things to people. (Just kidding, I smile all the time. I probably laugh more than I draw during art class.)

Octavia felt bad that her shadow kept covering my shoes, so here they are!

Candid shots are the best. They're the only way you can get creepy people walking behind you, where your eyes are secretly looking glaring at him, and he's secretly looking at you questioning your sanity.

And the jacket comes off. Oh hey, guys! I was getting a little drenched, btdubz.

Basking in the glory of nature. Ahhh.

Quickie update: here's the link to my newest Chictopia article.

I have a feeling I'm forgetting something, story of my life! It'll come to me. Five days later.

See you all soon, hopefully.

Scarlet Slacks

Maybe "scarlet" is a bit much, but you all know how I like plays on words--puns, alliterations, the whole deal. You also know how much I love to study trends, but never actually adhere to them. So here's another great trend that I've spotted on the interwebs that I don't really intend on trying out, mainly because I'm not quite sure where I'd find reasonably priced red pants. I started noticing this little guy peaking out when I saw Aimee Song of Song of Style and Natalie of Natalie Off Duty wearing red jeans within a few days of each other. Now, these are some pretty fashionable gals, so I started rifling through my archives and found a few other examples to prove my point. Lemme show ya!

Natalie of Natalie Off Duty

A woman spotted last spring on the streets of New York

See? SEE? Yes. The trend is there, and this time it's current! I'm not a whole season ahead, you'll all be happy to know. You may have noticed that I've posted a lot about the color red lately (do you recall this post, this one and this one, too?). I also have It's because it's one of my favorite colors right now. I've always loved it, but it's having a big moment.

I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. I don't believe my family actually gave thanks for anything at any point--we just kind of ate. And I, of course, have kept on eating; I have something of a sweet tooth. That's an understatement: if I were to have one tooth in my mouth that were my sweet tooth, it would take up all the space in there. That's how much I like sugar. It's really a huge problem (whatever pun that was there was intended).

I Give Thanks For Cheap Clothing

Believe it or not, that title is also a pun.

So today's Thanksgiving, y'all! Give thanks for everything! I'm giving thanks for my family, my friends...and my abundance of clothing. Especially the stuff I get for $14 at Buffalo Exchange that really cost like $100. That would be referring to the Cheap Monday jeans I got last Saturday, which I wore the other day. I will now present to you the pictures I took of said pants.

All photos taken by me and a piece of furniture, what's new.

I took these pictures after I went to the photography club at my school, so I was playing around with different effects on my camera. I actually like the way it turned out.

This was taken with my usual settings. You can't see the details as well like this.
Lace tank top: Gap
Sheer top: Whitewash via my Aunt Melne
Flannel shirt: Arrow Blue Jean Co.
Belt and boots: Urban Outfitters

Cuffed jeans again!

Cheap Monday!!!

They go all out when they make a pair of pants.

The logo is even on their tags, and on the interior of the pockets!!! How great is this??

I'll be wearing these jeans very often, despite the fact that they are one of the most unflattering pairs of pants I own. Sometimes you have to compromise looking attractive for the coolness of wearing German jeans, am I right?

I'm bringing my camera to my family's Thanksgiving celebration, so there shall be documentation. We might have another Father's Day situation, where I don't post them until a month later, but hopefully not.

Once again, have a happy Thanksgiving and a merry new year (if they've already got Christmas trees out out on the streets of New York, it's practically New Years, isn't it?).

Collar Me Pink

You all know how much I love puns, so I couldn't resist.

Midterms finally ended today, so I'm free as a bird! I also have so many ideas lined up for posts, it's ridiculous. Mentally prepare yourselves.

Back to the title: you'll see in just a moment that the other day I wore my YSL sweater and my Liz Claiborne silk top (wore here, here, here and here) and my new Mavi jeans that I picked up from Buffalo Exchange on Sunday. If you've never been to/heard of Buffalo Exchange, it's essentially the best thrift store I've ever shopped at. It has a huge selection of very reasonably priced goods (I saw a pair of Docs there for $28 and my friend got a pair of really nice shoes for $11 the other week). They have a lot of designer stuff as well--tons of (Marc by) Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, some Prada, Cheap Monday--the list goes on. I almost died when I went there the other day because I got a pair of high-waisted Cheap Monday jeans for $14 and a Marc by Marc Jacobs tote bag for $15. Greatest finds ever.

Before I show you my pictures, I'd just like to talk about my new photo venue. I can't use my hallway anymore because it gets dark before I get home, so the hallway is too dark to use. I have resorted to using my bedroom, which is why you'll see me standing in front of a shelf of boardgames and such. Don't ask questions. And to answer the question you're not allowed to ask, no I do not play Dungeons and Dragons.

All photos taken by me and a dresser (I asked for a tripod and remote for Hanukah so hopefully I won't have to prop my camera up on furniture for much longer).

Ignore the clothing/baskets in the background. THOSE ARE AN ILLUSION.

Blouse: Liz Claiborne
Sweater: YSL
Jeans: Mavi
Socks: Spongebob (yes, I am legit)
Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless

I'm kind of obsessed with cuffing my jeans recently. It reminds me of J. Crew and of being a kool kid. I've been fantasizing about wearing cuffed, straight leg jeans for a while now, and my dreams have finally come true.

And there you have it. Also my hair is in pigtails, so yeah. I felt like an especially kool kid with my pigtails, cuffed jeans and Spongebob socks.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving (no der), so happy Turkey Day to you all!

Jumping For Joy

...In my jumpsuit! I'm just full o' puns this week, aren't I?

Today's just a quickie post. Ever since I got this jumpsuit (you saw me wear it here), I've been tempted to wear them as pants. So I did. Here ya go!

All photos by me and my windowsill, once again.

 Jumpsuit: NAF NAF Paris
Sweater: Linden O.
Earrings: Unknown

I also threw on a denim jacket when I was outside, but It wasn't photographing well.

You can see the new Huffington Post High School site here! I'm not on it yet, but I will soon.

Sorry this post shorter than usual, today was pretty busy.

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, errybody!

I'm FALLing For You

Get it, because it's fall, like the season? Punny punny punny...

Today, it was way colder than I was expecting it to be. So I walked out of the house at 7 am wearing only a flannel shirt over my outfit. Meaning I basically froze my butt off as I walked from Columbus Circle to school. And also again in science class.

Remember how yesterday I said that I was going to do some more outfit posts this week because I'm working on a major blog project? That begins today.

Today's outfit probably would've been more successful if I'd worn it on a warmer day. But about three days ago, it would've worked perfectly as an outfit to transition from summer into fall. So keep it in mind when the weather inevitably acts once more as its bipolar self and becomes warmer again.

A note about today's photographs (and probably my photographs for a while): they're a tad blurry/out of focus because I am lacking a tripod and a remote, and a photographer. So my photographer is currently myself, my remote is the self-timer on my camera that is entirely incapable of focusing properly, and my tripod is the windowsill out in my hallway, which just happens to be too low, so most all of my pictures were taken sitting down. I do like the lighting though, and the blurriness too--it makes them sort of mysterious. At least I think so. If you've gotten any thoughts on the subject, hit me up in the comments box below. (Note that if the photo is not blurry, then the self-timer was not used. That's why some are still in focus.)

Also, please excuse the cray-cray-ness of my hair. I went to a yoga class earlier, and I was doing wheels and forearm stands and the like...Let's just say my hair spent a lot of time doing downward dog.

All photos by me and my windowsill.

Shirt: Liz Claiborne via Squan Dry Goods
Flannel: Arrow Blue Jean Co. via a thrift store in Massachusetts

Just chillin' on the floor. Oh hey.

Crinkly is one word to describe today's outfit. No iron? No problem! Wear it anyway.

(A quick side note: I am currently living in this flannel shirt. I will continue to do so for many days/weeks/years/centuries (yes, centuries) to come. It seems to go with nearly everything. Something's too girly? Grunge it up. Too formal? Dress it down. It serves the same function as a blazer, but backwards. It's genius. Lola would pronounce that jen-yoos, as should you.)

It looks like I'm standing, right? Funny story. I'm actually standing...on my knees. (I gotchya there, didn't I!) The lengths (heights?) I go to for this blog...

CS for Payless! That was an accidental rhyme, I love those little buggers. I also love these shoes.
Incidentally, I threw on some tights today to cover up my furrycold legs.

These little buddies have held up ridiculously well since I got them around a year and a half ago. They've survived through sun, rain, mud, probably a little snow and slush, running, walking, falling, all my usual activities. The best part is that I have another pair in pink and another identical pair to these in my closet, never been worn. And the livin' is easy.

One of the many watches (if many=5) I own. I got this one this summer in Giverny in France when we visited Monet's house. That's a Monet painting, on my wrist. I don't know who you're talking to, but I don't know many people who can say that. Besides me. And my sister. And my mom.....

 Headband: Missoni For Target
You can't tell, but this headband is in fact Missoni. It came with the one I wore here. My hair was walking to the beat of its own drum this morning, so I tamed it using the only method I could: accessories.

See how short my hair is? You can see my neck, sort of. That's how short it is. I'd go shorter if it wouldn't undoubtedly look ridiculous because of the curli/waviness of my hair. Rats. Foiled again!

That's all for today, folks.

There is definitely something I'm forgetting to write here, and it will of course pop into my head as I'm about to fall asleep. I know this because it happened to me last night.

Tomorrow is the launch of the Huffington Post's High School Bloggers section! Be there or be square. And I've heard from a good friend of mine named Spongebob Squarepants that being square isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Keep it phresh. Peace.

UPDATE: I just remembered what I said I'd forgotten! It's about the wedding I went to this weekend. I forgot to bring my camera and therefore could not take pictures like I said I would, but I'm banking on the fact that a wedding photographer managed to snap a pic or two of me. I was wearing my new red lipstick that I am in love with because it's perfect. And a supah-cool dress that's actually my mom's from Urban. It had ruffles. You will never see me wear ruffles. Except for then. I really hope there are pictures so that I have proof.
